International Congress on Forest Fire and Climate Change: Challenges for Fire Management in Natural and Cultural Landscapes of Eurasia, 11-12 November 2013, Novosibirsk, Russia

         The International Congress on Forest Fire and Climate Change: Challenges for Fire Management in Natural and Cultural Landscapes of Eurasia was held at 11-12 November in Novosibirsk, Russia. This international event bring together prestigious experts from all over the world, representatives of emergency services, forest managers and land management authorities, government and non-government organizations participating in forest protection and responsible for development of new strategies in forest fire management. They discussed the issues of wildland fire management in Russia and throughout the Eurasian region and their impact and significance towards climate change. One of the aims of the congress was to stimulate a cross boundary exchange of fire management experience and to contribute to the decision making process in this area on an international level.

        The Congress was organized in partnership with the Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) in the frame of the bilateral Russian-German Cooperation in Sustainable Forest Management.

          Fire protection union of Macedonia was invited to present its organisation and experiences in the last 30 years.

        Also, in the same time with the Congress, the first International Exhibition for Forest Fire Fighting and Protection was held 11-13 November 2013 at Novosibirsk Expocenter (Novosibirsk, Russia), within the bounds of the project Forest Fire Fighting Technologies. Ecology. Climate – 2013.
